This approach comes from years of hands-on travel experience. Growing up, travel was a regular part of life, with new destinations nearly every year. Planning those trips built an appreciation for organization, flexibility, and learning from each place visited. Later, extended time spent traveling throughout Europe after high school and during college strengthened those skills and showed how much easier, and more enjoyable, travel can be when it’s planned with intention and clarity.

Wunderway Travel was created to bring calm, organization, and confidence back into the travel planning process, so travelers can focus on the experience itself, not the logistics behind it.

Founder & Travel Planner

Konnichiwa, Bongu, Bonjour, Hola,! I’m Shay, the founder of Wunderway Travel! I’ve always loved organizing trips, finding unique experiences, and turning big travel ideas into clear, thoughtful plans. With a deep appreciation for intentional travel, I focus on creating itineraries that balance meaningful experiences with smart, budget-conscious planning.

I grew up traveling and rarely visited the same place twice unless we were seeing family in Iowa or Germany. These trips thoughtfully planned by my mom. After high school, I spent three months traveling throughout Germany and Europe, and the love of exploration continued through college while studying abroad. Over time, travel planning became more than something I enjoyed, it became something I became passionate about.

I specialize in helping travelers who feel overwhelmed by the planning process, offering guidance, structure, and clarity every step of the way. From full itinerary design to destination wedding support, my goal is to make travel feel exciting, personal, and stress-free. With encouragement from my husband to turn this passion into something more, Wunderway Travel was created to help others travel with wonder, without the overwhelm.

Hallo, I’m Michelle! I work alongside Shay behind the scenes at Wunderway Travel. I’ve always enjoyed planning, organizing details, and making sure everything runs smoothly, skills that naturally carry over into travel planning and logistical support.

I currently work as a logistics manager for an international company, where I oversee coordination, timelines, and move freight across multiple locations. This professional experience allows me to bring a calm, detail-oriented perspective to Wunderway Travel, helping ensure each itinerary is well thought out, organized, and realistic.

Having planned countless trips over the years, I understand how thoughtful planning can make or break a travel experience. At Wunderway Travel, I support itinerary reviews, logistical planning, and behind-the-scenes organization, providing an extra layer of care and reassurance for our clients.

Wunderway Travel is a travel planning service, focused on research, logistics, and itinerary design. While we are not a traditional travel agency, we can assist with booking flights and accommodations on your behalf when helpful. We do not earn commission from suppliers, allowing us to provide unbiased recommendations and focus solely on what’s best for your trip.

This approach offers flexibility, transparency, and confidence throughout the planning process.

1. Start with the Travel Discovery Form

Every trip begins with a short Travel Discovery Form. This helps us understand your destination ideas, travel style, timeline, budget, and priorities so we can assess whether Wunderway Travel is the right fit for your trip.

2. Travel Discovery Review & Next Steps

We carefully review each Travel Discovery Form to ensure expectations, scope, and planning needs are aligned. If adjustments are needed, we’ll guide you through options to help shape a realistic and enjoyable trip. Once aligned, we’ll confirm next steps and planning options.

3. Trip Design Questionnaire

If we move forward together, you’ll complete a Trip Design Questionnaire. This more detailed form gathers the specifics needed to design your trip thoughtfully, with preferences, pacing, must-haves, and logistics, so nothing important is overlooked.

4. Planning Conversation

After reviewing your Trip Design Questionnaire, we’ll connect for a focused planning conversation. This allows us to confirm details, answer questions, and ensure we’re aligned before diving into research and itinerary design.

5. Thoughtful Planning & Clear Plans

From there, we begin the planning process, transforming your ideas into a clear, easy-to-follow plan designed to feel flexible and manageable, so you can move forward with wonder, without the overwhelm.
